Imagine being able to take detailed, marked-up notes as you watch and learn each segment. No more sticky tabs on your monitor. No more hunting for a pen and paper to take notes. It's private, so feel free to be as silly as you want. (see example image below)

- Use a familiar tool bar (Word, Gmail, etc.) to make your notes personal and easy to read. There is even a print button for easy printing.
- Create links to sites that helped you address your specific problems.
- Make lists of the steps you took so that you never have to rely on your own memory ;-)
- See exactly when your notes were saved last so that you don't accidentally loose valuable information.

Sony Vegas Movie Studio is a great inexpensive software program with all the features necessary to make video scrapbooks and other video projects. The professional version of this software costs around $550 and has more features than you can shake a stick at. Vegas Movie Studio is essentially "Vegas Light" and has everything you need and more to make quality movies from home. If you are familiar with downloading and installing demo software on the web then just skip down to the end of this video and watch the part where I talk about setting up your first project. If you haven't done this before, this video is a step by step demonstration of how the installation is to be done.

Vegas Movie Studio is the application you will need if you are working with Mini DV tape or any other form of standard digital video. If you have been shooting with an HD camera then choose Vegas Movie Studio Platinum Edition.
-
You will want to return and download DVD Architect Studio as well. Then next tutorial covers how to do this.
-
This is a full version of Vegas Movie Studio, meaning everything works. You are not limited in how long your movies can be or in the ways that you output your movie. It is a good trial of a good piece of software.

Pay special attention to where you are saving your projects. You don't want to have projects scattered all over your computer. We recommend that you keep projects in the default Vegas Movie Studio 9.0 Projects folder. That way you will always know were to look when you want to return to a project you have been working on.

We choose DVD Disc for our project preset output type because we always intend to output to a DVD even if it is only for archival purposes. By choosing this setting you still have the option of outputting to a lesser quality and smaller file size without sacrificing any quality on your final DVD archive.
