Imagine being able to take detailed, marked-up notes as you watch and learn each segment. No more sticky tabs on your monitor. No more hunting for a pen and paper to take notes. It's private, so feel free to be as silly as you want. (see example image below)

- Use a familiar tool bar (Word, Gmail, etc.) to make your notes personal and easy to read. There is even a print button for easy printing.
- Create links to sites that helped you address your specific problems.
- Make lists of the steps you took so that you never have to rely on your own memory ;-)
- See exactly when your notes were saved last so that you don't accidentally loose valuable information.

Titles are nothing more than text on the screen. You can put them at the beginning of a movie to introduce it, in the middle to give names of people and descriptions of places, and at the end as credits. Josh demonstrates the very basic functions of the title tool in Movie Studio, he show how to add a title to the time line, type the words you want to see, change fonts, colors, size, and placement and then trim the title to match with the video it is displayed over. There are so many things you can do with titles, once you have the basics down try the other presets in the Media Generators bin, you'll be amazed at what you can do.
-
Be sure to click above the title you have just placed on the track, so you can see it in the player window. This will give you the best view of what your title looks like as you type it and add color and shadows.
-
The default setting for this sample text is a clear background. The reason you only see black behind the words is because there is no video underneath the text so only black is displayed. Raising this little slider makes the background visible. Once it is visible you can then choose what color you want it to be.
-
You will find that for some reason the color red tends to bleed (no pun intended) when displayed on televisions. You may want to avoid using lots of dark red text because it will look fuzzy and be difficult to read.
-
When choosing the size of your text don't go too small, remember not everyone that will be watching has 20/20 vision any more. Leave the fine print to the car commercials.
-
High contrast is the key to readable titles. If you have a dark background make the words light. If the background is light then make the text dark. Drop shadows can also help to offset text from busy backgrounds so that it can be more easily read.
